All-Levels Ceramics with James Mitschmyer

Tuesdays, 6-9pm, March 3rd-May 5th

Join James for a mixed-levels, mixed-methods class this spring! Returning students will benefit from James’ deep dives into the history and science of ceramics, while new students will enjoy James’ student-led approach to teaching. Each week, James will demonstrate different forms and techniques on the wheel, starting with the fundamentals of throwing and improvising based on student requests in later sessions. While this class focuses on the wheel, handbuilders are welcome and will benefit from the opportunity to explore slab-built and extruded forms with James’ guidance. Whether you’re starting with the basics, or looking to elevate your work with new tips and tricks for every stage of the making process, this is an opportunity to focus on individual interests in a lively group setting. Take your creativity in new and rewarding directions! Beginner, Intermediate, and Advanced students are welcome. Students must purchase a basic pottery tool kit before the start of class. We recommend the Kemper Pottery Toolkit available at Bailey Pottery.
