Intermediate/Advanced Handbuilding

This class is for students who are familiar with the basic methods of coil, pinch, and slab construction, and would like to continue to explore these and other handbuilding techniques. Our work will become a canvas to develop layered surface decoration. We will develop our personal libraries of stamps and found objects for mark-making, pattern, and texture. Using slip and underglaze, we will explore color’s interplay with texture and form. Students will be encouraged to explore their own ideas, combining new concepts with personal style and skill.

Prerequisites: basic handbuilding experience. Ages 18+ unless pre-arranged with studio staff.
