Intermediate/Advanced Wheel: Thrown and Altered

$360 Purchase required to enroll

This winter, intermediate and advanced students will have the opportunity to expand beyond round pots by exploring the possibilities of alteration techniques. Sam will teach students how to re-shape wheel-thrown pots, by stretching, pressing, darting, faceting, and combining thrown and handbuilt sections. By the end of this class, you will have a strong understanding of these methods for changing the shape of your pots, allowing you to make work that is uniquely designed. Additionally, you might find that these new shapes spark new ideas for surface decoration! This class can also accommodate students who want to focus on improving their intermediate throwing skills with Sam’s expert guidance. Prerequisites: basic throwing skills and a willingness to push yourself technically and creatively. Ages 18+ unless pre-arranged with studio staff. Students must bring their own or purchase a basic pottery tool kit before the start of class. We recommend the Kemper Pottery Toolkit available at Bailey Pottery.
